‘Dancing With The Stars’ (DWTS) has been a platform where celebrities showcase their dance prowess, and in its 31st season, Trevor Donovan joined the roster. In light of his DWTS appearance, here are five lesser-known facts about the actor that might just surprise you.
1. Donovan Teamed Up With Dancer Emma Slater
In Dancing With The Stars season 31, Trevor has teamed up with professional dancer Emma Slater. Emma is a seasoned DWTS pro who clinched a win in season 24 with Rashad Jennings. She guided Trevor through his dance journey, given his initial apprehensions and fear of dancing.
On the premiere episode, he danced a quickstep with Emma to ‘Dancing With Myself’ by Billy Idol and received a score of 21 out of 40. On Elvis Night, the pair danced the rumba to ‘Always On My Mind,’ and their performance got them a nine-point increase in score from their previous performance.
2. He Has Starred in Numerous Hallmark Films
For nearly a decade, Trevor’s been a familiar face on the Hallmark Channel, starring in eight movies since 2012. Some might remember him from ‘Nantucket Noel‘ from 2021. However, in October 2021, the actor parted ways with Hallmark after signing a deal with GAC Family. He is now slated to appear in the upcoming movie ‘Reagan’ as John Barletta.
3. Trevor Gained Fame Through ‘90210’
Before his roles in Hallmark films, Trevor rose to stardom with his role in the Beverly Hills, 90210 spinoff series, ‘90210.’ Playing the character Teddy Montgomery, he first graced the show in its second season and came out as gay. In a 2021 Instagram post, he wrote the following about this role:
“A gay wedding on TV doesn’t seem like a big deal now, but 10 years ago, it kinda was. So much progress & tolerance has been made since then, and I am so honored to have been a part of it.”
Teddy’s journey concluded with a same-sex wedding in season 4.
4. He Sings and Plays the Guitar
Fans were treated to Trevor’s vocal prowess in the Hallmark movie ‘Strawberry Summer.’ And that’s not all — Trevor can strum the guitar as well! Previously, he used to share his musical performances on his Soundcloud account.
5. He Was a Competitive Teen Skier
Growing up in Mammoth Lakes, California, Trevor was part of the U.S. teen ski team during his teenage years, representing the far west team. In a turn of events, he later transitioned from the ski team to the snowboard team. This move was met with approval from his ski coach. Even in his acting career, Trevor had a chance to express his love for skiing, performing most of his stunts in the Hallmark movie ‘Two For The Win.’
