Best known for her role as Lisa Turtle in the ’90s sitcom ‘Saved By The Bell,’ Lark Voorhies has remained in the entertainment industry after the show’s finale. Here’s a look into what the actress has been up to since her Bayside days.
Voorhies’ Career After Saved By The Bell
After the final bell rang on ‘Saved By The Bell,’ Voorhies did not stray far from acting. She appeared in various television shows, most notably landing roles in soap operas such as ‘The Bold and the Beautiful‘ and ‘Days of Our Lives.’
She appeared in spin-offs like ‘Saved by the Bell: The College Years,‘ ‘Saved by the Bell: Wedding in Las Vegas,‘ and ‘Saved by the Bell: The New Class.‘ Other credits include roles in ‘In the House,‘ and ‘The Parkers.‘
Voorhies has not acted much since the 2000s. She appeared in ‘Grown Ups‘ in 2000 as Stacy. In the following years, she was seen in the film ‘Fire & Ice,‘ the miniseries ‘Widows,‘ and ‘Robot Chicken.‘
Although she had no acting credits since 2012’s ‘Little Creeps,‘ Voorhies’ representatives stated she had a busy schedule. The actress later voiced her disappointment for not being invited to participate in the 2020 ‘Saved by the Bell’ sequel on Peacock. However, she later reprised her role as Lisa Turtle in the show.
Voorhies also ventured into the world of literature. She penned three books, named ‘Reciprocity,’ ‘Trek of the Cheshire,’ and ‘True Light.’
Relations with Saved by the Bell Cast and Reunions
Voorhies was absent from a 2015 ‘Saved by the Bell’ reunion on ‘The Tonight Show.’ Her publicist stated she missed the 2015 reunion due to a tight work schedule. She also missed a 2019 dinner reunion with most of the main ‘Saved by the Bell’ cast.
Despite the distance with her former castmates, Voorhies expressed interest in returning for a ‘Saved by the Bell’ reboot. In 2018, she was also spotted at a ‘Saved by the Bell’ event.
She eventually reprised her role as Lisa Turtle in Season 1 of the sequel, which was canceled after two seasons in 2022.
Her Personal Life
As claimed by The National Enquirer, Voorhies was rumored to have a drug problem. She filed a lawsuit against The National Enquirer for the drug allegations, which she later dropped after settling matters. An Instagram hoax in 2015 claimed that Voorhies had lupus, which was denied by her representative.
She married music engineer Jimmy Green in 2015 after meeting him on Facebook. They divorced later the same year.
Behind the camera, Voorhies has been open about her struggles with mental health, particularly her diagnosis of schizoaffective disorder. Voorhies appeared on ‘The Dr. Oz Show’ to discuss her condition and later credited him with aiding her return to the ‘Saved by the Bell’ reboot.
