Liam Payne recently uploaded a video on his YouTube channel titled ‘I’m Back…’. In the video, he talked about his 100 days of rehab process and stated he’s been sober for almost 6 months.

29-year-old musician mentioned that both rehab and sobriety worked out for him:

“I just kind of feel like I’ve got more of a grip on life and everything that was getting away from me, I just feel like I’ve got more of a handle on it,”

Later, he explained the reason why he wanted to go to rehab in the first place:

“I just needed to take a little bit of time out for myself actually because I kind of became somebody who I didn’t really recognize anymore. And I’m sure you guys didn’t either.”

As a part of the recovery process, Liam said he reflected on the things he previously said about his former band member, Zayn Malik, and touched upon this subject as:

“A lot of what I said came from the wrong place, I was so angry at what was going on around me and instead of taking a look inwards I decided to look outwards at everybody else and I took it out on everybody else, which is just wrong, really.”

He later continued, talking about the reasons behind his previous actions and apologized:

“My own frustrations with my own career and where I kind landed, I took shots at everybody else which is wrong. So obviously, I want to apologize for that because obviously, that is not me. […] You don’t really realize the impact that your words might have on other people.”

In June 2022, Liam attended Logan Paul’s podcast and criticised Zayn’s behaviours:

“There’s many reasons why I dislike Zayn and there’s many reasons why I’ll always, always be on his side. […] I can’t sit here and d— on him because of whatever. And listen, I don’t agree with any of his actions. I can’t commend some of the things that he’s done. I can’t be on his side for that.”
