Morgan Freeman made his first marriage to Jeanette Adair Bradshaw in 1967 before his acting career went on the rise. After five years of dating, the couple tied the knot with a private ceremony.

Freeman adopted his wife’s daughter from her previous relationship during their marriage. Later, the family grew with the birth of their daughter, Morgana, while Bradshaw also played a role in the upbringing of the actor’s two other children from past affairs.

As their marriage continued, Freeman made his acting debut on Broadway and soon started to take part in TV projects. Shortly after he appeared in the 1978 stage productions, ‘The Mighty Gents’ and ‘White Pelicans,’ news about the couple’s divorce decision broke out.

While the two never revealed the exact reason for their divorce in 1979, some media platforms rumored that the infidelity of the ‘Seven’ actor caused it.

Following their split, Bradshaw chose a life out of the spotlight. While Freeman married his second wife, Myrna Colley-Lee, in 1984 and divorced her 25 years later, reportedly because of cheating on his part, her relationship status remained a secret throughout the years.

The actor’s ex-wife also didn’t appear in public settings like their daughter Morgana until the funeral of her granddaughter, E’dena Hines, who was murdered by her boyfriend in 2015.
