Canadian rock band Loverboy’s Mike Reno recently sat down with AXS TV and had a conversation about their tour with Styx and Reo Speedwagon in 2022, their upcoming appearance in Foreigner’s ‘Historic Farewell Tour,’ and so on. When it was asked to Mike whether they will include their new songs in the setlist, he pointed out that fans favour hits more, and revealed their hour-long set plan:
“We may put it in there. Here’s what I find and I don’t know why but we try all the time to put new songs out and people almost just wanna hear the hits and it’s just one of those things. We actually planned to do a full-hour set with a song from every album, which is pretty cool. As we go, we may throw in one of the new songs and we’re still working on new stuff right now.”
Reno also mentioned that even though they work on new tracks, their older songs receive more recognition.
“It’s not like we don’t work on new songs, it’s just they don’t get accepted like they used to. For instance, Classic Rock Radio only plays stuff that’s 25 years old, I don’t know if you know that, that’s why they call it classic rock, so Classic Rock Radio won’t put it in the list, they may play it once at night or something but, that’s just kind of the way it is. and I talk to everybody about it. I talk to the guys at […], they try to do songs but they just want to ‘learn it from a friend’ and rightly so, fabulous songs.”
In the beginning of 2022, Loverboy released a new album titled ‘Release,’ and embarked on an almost 9 month long tour with Styx, and Reo Speedwagon. Now, the rock band will accompany Foreigners, starting from July 6. You can check here for the tickets.
