‘Pitch Perfect’ was a big hit when it came out in September 2012, earning over $100 million worldwide. This success led to two sequels, ‘Pitch Perfect 2’ in 2015 and ‘Pitch Perfect 3’ in 2017. Despite these sequels doing well, there hasn’t been a ‘Pitch Perfect 4,’ which has left fans wondering if it will ever happen.
Fans got excited when Rebel Wilson posted an Instagram photo with her ‘Pitch Perfect’ co-stars holding up four fingers in September 2018. However, it didn’t lead to a confirmed sequel. Wilson later talked about returning for a fourth film in a March 2022 appearance on the Kelly Clarkson Show, saying:
“I do love doing them. I get to be with my best friends, and we get to sing and dance… So I would love to do another because we would just all get to be together.”
The series is about the Barden Bellas, a college a cappella group led by Beca Mitchell, Chloe Beale, Aubrey Posen, and Fat Amy. They start as underdogs, become famous, then face setbacks and seek redemption. They sing a cappella versions of popular songs.
In ‘Pitch Perfect 3,’ the group reunites after college for a USO tour but faces unexpected challenges. The movie left fans wanting more. However, the third film didn’t do as well as expected for Universal. It also got bad reviews from both fans and critics.
It made $100 million less at the box office than the previous movie. While it wasn’t a complete failure, it likely disappointed the people behind the film. Since its release in 2017, no plans have been mentioned for another movie in the series.
Still, a television series is in the works, as Peacock ordered in September 2021. It will follow Adam DeVine’s character, Bumper Allen, who goes to Germany to pursue a music career. The show features Megan Amram as the showrunner and Elizabeth Banks as executive producers. Sarah Hyland, Lera Abova, and Jameela Jamil have been cast, and production is starting soon. We don’t know the release date yet.
