Slipknot co-founder and drummer Shawn ‘Clown’ Crahan recently announced via Instagram how he needed to take a break from the act’s ongoing tour, stating:
‘‘Hello to all of our fans, it’s the Clown. I would like to take a moment to tell everyone that I’m back home supporting my wife through some health issues, and I’ll be back on the road as soon as I can.”
He then continued by thanking fans for their support, reminding them how his wife had been battling with Crohn’s disease for a while:
”We’ve been through this before, and as always, we appreciate the love and support. See all of you very soon.”
In May 2019, the Clown lost his youngest daughter, Gabrielle, who passed away aged 22, due to an overdose. Crahan talked about the period in a conversation in 2021, trying to detail what he felt:
”When you have a loss like that, you can’t imagine the steps backward you take, and the words that come to mind that you have to take notice of, and then take stock to, and there’s not a single thing anybody in the world’s gonna say that’s gonna change it…”
Although the drummer will be stepping back from touring for a while, his Slipknot bandmates will carry on with their European tour, as their next show is in Austria on June 8.
