Following Heart’s 2013 induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, Ann Wilson chatted with Vintage Rock to reflect on the band’s history and her dynamic with her sister Nancy Wilson. At some point, the chat touched on the sibling fights in some bands like the Everly Brothers and the Kinks.

When the interviewer asked if she had similar issues with Nancy, the singer said:

“If we said we never had any ups and downs, I’d be lying to you — because we do. But we’re not brothers, and we don’t tend to come to fisticuffs. We tend to discuss things and work things out. That’s just how — I don’t know, maybe that’s a woman thing.”

She went on to reveal how they kept their relationship going:

“But it’s just really important to understand, like I said before, that people need space, and they need to be able to have a life outside the band in order to come back to the band, you know, and be fresh and like it. So I think we’re really careful with those things. I think we’re careful not to walk all over each other.”

Still, 2016 saw a strain in their relationship. Ann’s husband, Dean Wetter, assaulted Nancy’s twin sons for not closing his RV’s door during Heart’s tour performance in Washington. After he got arrested and pleaded guilty, the sisters stopped talking to each other and parted ways following the end of their tour.

Over the years, they made their own separate music as solo artists. But in 2019, the band reunited for a Love Rock NYC benefit concert, leading to another tour called ‘Love Alive’ in the following months.

Now, Heart members are working on new material, as Nancy shared in a chat with American Songwriter in June. According to her words, the upcoming songs will have similar sounds to the band’s ’70s tracks.
