Arrested in 2017 and convicted in 2019, fake German heiress Anna ‘Delvey’ Sorokin recently sat down with CNN for an exclusive interview. While talking about her days under house arrest, Sorokin admitted regretting her past deeds. However, she believes she isn’t a threat to anyone:

“I’m wearing an ankle bracelet purely for immigration purposes. There is no real reason for me to be on house arrest because I’m not a threat to public safety.”

Anna then said being under house arrest can’t actually prevent her from fraud:

“I don’t understand how me being on house arrest would prevent me from defrauding people. A geek could defraud people from anywhere in the world. You don’t have to be in any location, period.”

After all the ‘bad choices’ she made, Anna says she now has regret. Explaining her current motives, she continued:

“I’m just trying to learn from my mistakes and move on. I obviously made a lot of bad choices. I regret a lot of things I’ve done in the past.”

Anna posed as a wealthy heiress to have access to upper-class New York scenes between 2013 and 2017. When her former friend Rachel DeLoache Williams accused Anna of defrauding her of $62,000, she was arrested in 2017. In 2019, the fraudster was convicted of attempted grand larceny, larceny in the second degree, and theft of services.

Sentenced to 4 to 12 years in prison, Anna was granted a $10,000 bail bond in 2022 after serving two years in prison. She is now under house arrest with electronic monitoring and no access to social media platforms.

Sorokin’s story inspired a Netflix miniseries named ‘Inventing Anna.’ Released on February 11, 2022, it stars Julia Garner as Anna.

She is launching a podcast named ‘The Anna Delvey Show’ from her home, with guests such as Emily Ratajkowski, Julia Fox, and Whitney Cummings.
