In a recent episode of ‘Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen,’ Eva Longoria, who joined the show to promote her directorial debut ‘Flamin’ Hot,‘ revealed if she would take part in a reboot of ‘Desperate Housewives.’

Longoria was asked her thoughts on the possibility of a ‘Desperate Housewives’ reboot like what ‘Sex and the City’ did with 2021’s ‘And Just Like That.‘ Reflecting on where Gabby and Carlos would be in such a spin-off, the actress said:

“Oh, gosh. Well, Gabby would be an influencer for sure. She’d be an Instagrammer. I would be the first to sign up, I love Miss Gabby, but I think I’d be the only one to sign up.”

She then revealed the real reason why a reboot might not be possible. According to Longoria, there wasn’t much left to ‘mine’ from the characters:

“Marc Cherry says, ‘I fully mined those characters.’ Back in the day, we used to shoot 24 episodes a season, and we did that for eight years. We fully mined those characters under this ‘six episodes a season’ sh*t. It was an hour-long show. There was nobody left on the street for me to sleep with. I slept with everybody!”

When Cohen asked the actress if ‘Desperate Housewives’ ever jumped the shark, she simply responded:

“No.”

‘Desperate Housewives’ aired for eight seasons and 180 episodes on ABC from October 3, 2004, until May 13, 2012. In 2011, Eva posted a tweet to confirm the eighth season was the final season of the series.

‘Sex and The City’ premiered in the US on June 6, 1998, and concluded on February 22, 2004, with 94 episodes and six seasons. In December 2020, it was reported that a sequel to the original series was in the works. ‘And Just Like That…’ premiered on HBO Max on December 9, 2021, and was renewed for a second season which is set to premiere on June 22, 2023.

Longoria’s directorial debut ‘Flamin’ Hot’ had its world premiere on March 11. Released on June 9 by Hulu and Disney+, the film received mixed reviews from Metacritic and a 68% rating on Rotten Tomatoes.
