In a recent episode of his Audible Original ‘Words + Music’ series, titled ‘From the Streets to the Suites,‘ Snoop Dogg talked about the makings of his hit ‘Drop It Like It’s Hot.’ Snoop then reflected on working with Dr. Dre, revealing he was afraid of the producer’s reaction.

Admitting that Dre was his ‘worst critic on all of [his] music at the time,’ the rapper said the following about the producer:

“This n*gga don’t like nothing! I’m scared he gon’ come and say he don’t like it!”

However, despite his concerns, Dre was pleased with his song ‘Drop It Like It’s Hot.’ As Snoop recalls, Dre called him at that time to say:

“N*gga, this sh*t right here off the hook! This sh*t bomb, n*gga! Y’all did that!”

Released in 2004, ‘Drop It Like It’s Hot’ was a huge chart success — it topped the US Billboard Hot 100 for three weeks and became both Snoop and Pharell Williams’ first number one on the chart. As reported by Capital XTRA, the song was named by Billboard as the most popular rap song of the decade in 2009.

Snoop’s new Audible original From the Streets to the Suites debuted on Audible as vol. 36 of the platform’s ‘Words + Music’ series. Launched during the 30th anniversary of ‘Doggystyle,’ the show explores the rapper’s evolution from the streets to the top of the charts.

Dogg recently collaborated with Petco for a new pet-care campaign featuring Petco Picks by Snoop, which includes toys, treats, and grooming supplies for pets.
