Rosamund Pike recently joined the Guardian to talk about her latest project, a 10-part BBC audio drama named ‘People Who Knew Me.’ During the conversation, the actress revealed her thoughts on working with Hugh Laurie.

Sharing her reaction when Hugh wanted to do the project, Rosamund said:

“I was delighted when Hugh wanted to do it. He’s always been a face I’ve known, and obviously, ‘House’ is where he perfected his brilliant American accent. On-screen, you could’ve been distracted by the fact that it’s Hugh Laurie, but as a voice, you just accept it. He becomes the character. Someone’s fame doesn’t get in the way with audio.”

Laurie adopted an American accent for his part in ‘House.’ In a 2022 interview with /Film, he explained how he perfected his accent:

“When I was doing ‘House,’ I remember, when I arrived at work at the beginning of the day, I would go in through onto the studio lot. And from that moment on, for the next 14 hours, in my head, I don’t know if it sounded that way to everyone else, but in my head, I was American. I didn’t step out of it.”

‘People Who Knew Me‘ follows a woman (Rosamund Pike) who uses the 9/11 terror attacks as an opportunity to fake her own death and run away to California to start a new life as Connie Prynne. Based on Kim Hooper’s novel of the same name, the audio drama was first announced in April.

Rosamund is also going to star in ‘Saltburn,’ an upcoming black comedy-drama thriller film by Emerald Fennell.
