Olivia Rodrigo recently sat down with NY Times, and mentioned that Jack White once wrote him a letter, and he advised him how to focus on being a successful musician:

“He wrote me this letter the first time I met him that said, ‘Your only job is to write music that you would want to hear on the radio.'”

Olivia then added, admitting that it’s easier to say than done:

“I mean, writing songs that you would like to hear on the radio is in fact very hard.”

In May 11, 2022, both Jack and Olivia shared a photo of themselves together, announcing that they met officially. Rodrigo wrote to her post‘s caption:

“Got to meet my hero of all heroes today. still crying. Thank you Jack White for being so kind to your biggest fangirl. Everyone go listen to ‘Fear of The Dawn!'”

White praised Olivia and stated he approves of her musical style in his own post:

“Had the chance to meet a talented singer and musician today named Olivia Rodrigo, she’s very cool, very real and very much a lover of music. She’s also introducing another set of youth to the love of vinyl records as well. Respect.”

Former The White Stripes’ Jack White paid tribute to actor Paul Reubens, posting from his official IG. In his eulogy, Jack began by confirming Paul’s passing and continued by praising him and cherishing their friendship:

“The great Paul Reubens has moved on to a better place. He was the creator of the genius character Pee-wee Herman and an actor and comedian of incredible talent. Paul was a good friend to me and reached out any time he felt I was in need.”

White also mentioned Reubens’ generosity and praised his musical taste:

“A generous soul who never forgot a birthday or Christmas card for those he loved. Paul had incredible taste in music and was very funny in everyday life.”

The guitarist also recalled their first encounter:

“I first got to witness his gift while filming a video for the Raconteurs together, and we became friends instantly. I was just thinking about you last night, Paul. Peace be with you. – Jack White III.”

Paul Reubens first developed the Pee-wee character in the ’70s as an improvisational comedian at ‘The Groundlings.’ He had his own show, ‘The Pee-wee Herman Show,’ produced a film directed by Tim Burton, and had a kids’ show, ‘Pee-wee’s Playhouse,’ until 1990. He faced legal issues and was arrested in 1991 for indecent exposure and in 2002 for possession of child pornography.

Mike Batayeh, who played the laundromat manager in ‘Breaking Bad’ has passed away at 52.

According to what his family told TMZ, Mike passed away at his home on June 1, while he was sleeping. The actor’s cause of death was reportedly a heart attack, which his sister Diane found untimely as Mike didn’t have a history of heart disease.

Mike’s family issued the following statement after his passing:

“He will be greatly missed by those who loved him and his great ability to bring laughter and joy to so many.”

Mike appeared in three episodes of ‘Breaking Bad’ as Dennis Markowski, who was the manager of Lavandería Brillante industrial laundromat, where Walter White and Jesse Pinkman worked together for Gustave Fring. Apart from his work on the series, he also appeared in the films ‘American Dreamz,’ ‘This Narrow Place,’ and ‘Detroit Unleaded.’

After Batayeh’s death, the White Stripes’ Jack White took to his Instagram to pay tribute to the actor. As it turns out, Mike was a family friend of White:

White’s Instagram post read:

“Mike Batayeh, a comedian and actor who played laundromat manager Dennis Markowski in ‘Breaking Bad,’ has died of cardiac arrest, his manager confirmed to CNN. ‘Mike was a family friend and fixture in Southwest Detroit when I was a child, and I have always been proud of him for making it to the great levels he did. He was a warm soul and always had a funny take on situations. He will be missed by many. My love and respect to the Batayeh family who has always been so kind.’ – Jack White III.”

Batayeh is survived by five siblings and an extended family.
