Mick Jagger recently discussed how Lady Gaga got involved in the Rolling Stones’ upcoming album, ‘Hackney Diamonds,’ while sitting down with Rolling Stone magazine.

Apparently, Gaga’s involvement was spontaneous, as she happened to be recording at the same studio. So, Jagger recalled how, during one random session, the singer asked if she could pop in:

“She just walked in, in front of me, and me, and she just curled up in a ball in front of me on the floor. And then someone gave her a mic, and she started singing oohs and ahs.”

Then, Jagger’s bandmate, Ronnie Wood, cut in and also recalled how they initially decided to recruit Gaga:

“She was sitting there on the floor just digging it and singing along, and Mick said, ‘Well, come on in. Stand up. Let’s make a thing of this then. Let’s do it properly.'”

Gaga will feature on the track, ‘Sweet Sounds of Heaven,’ and she’s not the only one to be working with the Rolling Stones on ‘Hackney Diamonds,’ [which will be set for release on October 20].

The name behind the producer’s seat is Andrew Watt, who’d worked with Ozzy Osbourne, Post Malone, and Iggy Pop in the past. Rock n’ roll royalty such as Paul McCartney, The Rolling Stones’ original bassist Bill Wyman, and Elton John will also appear on different tracks.

Mick Jagger’s long-time girlfriend, Melanie Hamrick, who released her first novel ‘First Position’ this week, recently spoke to People and said she wanted to keep her work and personal life separate.

The former ballerina worked with Jagger in 2019 and put her choreography together with the Rolling Stones’ music for the ballet ‘Porte Rouge.’ Based on that, when asked whether she would collaborate with her boyfriend for another project in the future, Hamrick said:

“I’ve been keeping work separate. For me personally, I prefer that because then it’s kind of fun. We are in such similar careers, to keep it separate is better. You’re working with the person all day, and then you’re with them at night. It’s like, too much of each other. And then it’s nice to have outside opinions, someone that isn’t in it with you. They can give you really solid advice. So I prefer the separation from work.”

At some point during the interview, the newly-minted author’s diamond ring also came under the spotlight. According to her, while it was a gift from Jagger, the ring didn’t mean the couple was engaged.

Clearing up the air about marriage rumors, Hamrick explained:

“I mean, I have to giggle because did Mick give me the ring? Yes. Is it for that finger? Yes. But are we, like, horny teenagers where we’re giving each other… In my mind, it’s a promise ring. We’ll be immature and call it a promise ring.”

She kept her answer about marriage plans open-ended by adding:

“I don’t know. I’m kind of, like, a live-in-the-moment type of person, so who knows.”

Melanie Hamrick and the Rolling Stones vocalist began their relationship in 2014, and they have a son, Deveraux Octavian Basil, born in 2016. Apart from Deveraux, Jagger has seven more children from five different women. These are  Karis with Marsha Hunt, Jade with Bianca Jagger, Elizabeth, Georgia May, James and Gabriel with Jerry Hall, and Lucas with Luciana Morad Gimenez.
