In the early 2000s, whispers of a ghostly figure born out of a car crash spread all over the internet. On social media platforms, some people claimed to have received threatening messages from a dead girl called Teresa Fidalgo.

Telling her story, a part of her message read:

“I am Teresa Fidalgo, and if you don’t post this on 20 other photos, I will sleep with you forever. A girl ignored and her mom died 29 days later. You can even search me on Google.”

In the middle of speculations and rumors, some YouTube channels debunked the myth by revealing that Teresa Fidalgo was actually a character from Portuguese producer David Rebordão’s short film, ‘A Curva.’

The found-footage movie contained a scene where three friends, driving on a mountain at night, came across a girl in white, calling herself Teresa. After letting her in the car, the story took a turn as the girl revealed having died in a car crash with a suddenly appearing wound on her face.

With the effect of the video, people on the internet linked Teresa’s story to a supposedly real accident that happened on a Portuguese road in 1983. But, the producer made it clear that he made it all up for the movie and chose actress Sara Cipriano to play the ghost in 2003.
