Veteran actor Treat Williams passed away at 71 on June 12. Upon hearing the news, Paul Stanley took to Twitter to pay tribute to Williams and extend his condolences to the actor’s family.

Stanley revealed that he and Williams became friends back in 1980. His tweet read:

“SHOCKED… My buddy Treat Williams, who I came to know in 1980, was killed yesterday in a motorcycle accident. He was smart, funny, kind, and a consummate actor. I loved reconnecting in the past few years. My condolences to his family, who he loved dearly.”

According to Vermont State Police, Williams’ cause of death was a motorcycle accident that took place around 5:00 pm ET Monday on Vermont Route 30. A driver attempted to turn left and collided with the actor, who was thrown from his motorcycle.

Williams’ agent of 15 years, Barry McPherson, confirmed the article in a statement for People and paid tribute to the late actor. He said:

“He was killed this afternoon. He was making a left or a right [and] a car cut him off. I’m just devastated. He was the nicest guy. He was so talented. He was an actor’s actor. Filmmakers loved him. He’s been the heart of Hollywood since the late 1970s. He was really proud of his performance this year. He’s been so happy with the work that I got him. He’s had a balanced career.”

After the accident, Williams was airlifted to Albany Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead. The late actor is survived by his wife, Pam Van Sant, and their two children.
