Radwimps singer and guitarist Yojiro Noda recently joined NME with his bandmates for an interview. During the conversation, Yojiro admitted that Oasis had a huge influence on his music and explained how the band inspired him.

NME’s Nick Levine asked the band whether there were any UK acts that they were a fan of or felt inspired by. Upon hearing this, Yojiro chimed in, revealing two names that have the most influence on Radwimp’s music — Oasis and Radiohead. He said:

“For me, Oasis and Radiohead — two big artists that gave us influence a lot. Especially Oasis. When I was around 13-14, when I started playing guitar, their music, melody, and chord progression gave me so many influences. You know, how they touch people’s hearts and feelings with their melodies and the chord progression.”

Nick then asked Yojiro if he learned guitar by playing Oasis songs. The musician confirmed:

“Exactly. Definitely. I can sing most of Oasis’ songs, ‘Don’t Look Back in Anger,’ ‘Live Forever,’ ‘Whatever,’ or ‘Don’t Go Away.’ I mean, all those Oasis songs from that era, I used to sing a lot.”

According to a 2006 interview with CDJapan, Yojiro decided to pursue a music career after listening to Oasis.

Radwimps’ latest album ‘Suzume‘ was released in November 2022 as the soundtrack to a Japanese animated film of the same name.
