Three years ago, the world mourned the loss of actress Elizabeth Hurley’s former boyfriend, Steve Bing, who committed suicide. A tumultuous history surrounded Bing’s relationship with his son, 21-year-old Damian Charles, born in 2002, after his split with Hurley. Throughout much of Damian’s life, Steve refused to publicly acknowledge that he was his father, a situation mirroring that of his daughter, Kira, born to Lisa Bonder-Kreiss after their separation.
However, in the weeks leading up to his death, Bing seemed to be attempting to make amends for his absence from Damian’s life. Liz revealed in an Instagram post shortly after Steve’s passing that they had grown close again in the past year and had even spoken on their son’s 18th birthday.
One significant step Bing took towards reconciliation was securing Damian and Kira’s inheritance from family trust funds established by his father, Dr. Peter Bing. A particular trust fund, valued at $1 billion, was at the heart of the matter. In 2019, a Los Angeles court ruled that the trust fund was intended for unnamed grandchildren and that, as biological grandchildren, Damian and Kira should rightfully inherit it.
While the court’s decision appeared to secure their inheritance, it was not meant to last. After Bing’s passing, his father, Dr. Bing, launched an appeal to reverse the court’s ruling, seeking to cut Damian and Kira out of the trust fund. His initial argument was based on their alleged illegitimacy, stemming from being born out of wedlock.
Damian’s grandfather ultimately succeeded in his appeal, effectively disinheriting Damian and Kira from the substantial family trust fund. This decision left Hurley frustrated and deeply saddened, as she believed Bing had died believing his children would be taken care of.
Hurley shared her thoughts about the decision in a statement, saying:
“When Stephen took his own life, he died thinking his children were going to be taken care of. What Stephen wanted has now been callously reversed. I know Stephen would have been devastated.”
Damian also embarked on a professional acting career like his mother by debuting in ‘The Royals’ in 2016. He is also a model, working with famous photographers like  Steven Meisel and Mert and Marcus.
