Premiering in 1993, ‘Power Rangers’ has become a long-running and massive franchise, spanning almost three decades and multiple iterations. The core of the show remains constant, featuring a group of young people donning color-coded, super-powered spandex to fight monsters and pilot giant robots known as Zords, all powered by the enigmatic Morphin Grid.

As the 30th anniversary approached, fans were excited to learn about the scripted team-up special, ‘Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: Once & Always,’ where original Rangers would join forces with some of their successors to battle the infamous Rita Repulsa. However, fans noticed that the original Pink Ranger Kimberly (Amy Jo Johnson) and Green Ranger Tommy (Jason David Frank) were not part of the reunion.

Addressing the speculations and rumors surrounding her absence, Johnson took to Twitter in March to clarify the situation. The actress wrote:

“Please stop saying I didn’t do reunion because of money. Simply not true. Maybe I just didn’t want to wear spandex in my 50s or couldn’t go to [New Zealand] for a month. Or none of ur beeswax. [Jason David Frank] & I both chose not to for our own reasons. They filmed before he passed.”

Back in January, Amy had again tweeted about the special, saying:

“For the record, I never said no…I just didn’t say yes to what was offered. But other fun stuff is in-store! Looking forward to watching my friends kick a**!”

Johnson’s portrayal of the Pink Ranger Kimberly Hart in the first three seasons of ‘Mighty Morphin Power Rangers’ earned her the title of ‘the original Pink Power Ranger’ among fans. Throughout her time on the show, she appeared in 138 episodes and continued to appear as the character in various ‘Power Rangers’ movies and specials from 1993 to 1999.

Despite Amy’s absence from the 30th-anniversary special, several other original cast members from the ’90s show and movie reprised their roles, including David Yost as Blue Ranger Billy Cranston, Walter E. Jones as Black Ranger Zack Taylor, and Steve Cardenas as Red Ranger Rocky DeSantos.
