Unveiling Ryan Bingham’s Name Change After Anna Axster Breakup

It’s not unusual for celebrities to change their names, often to build a unique image or simply for personal reasons. Station 19’s Jaina Lee Ortiz also did so to fit in the industry. But what about changing it back after a significant life event? Such is the case for singer and actor Ryan Bingham, who surprised fans by choosing to revert to his birth name following his divorce from Anna Axster.

Why Ryan Bingham Changed His Name?

Bingham, known for his musical contributions and his portrayal of Walker in the series ‘Yellowstone,’ has seen a rapid rise to fame in both his acting and music careers. In a twist that left fans shocked, Bingham decided to legally alter his name after filing for divorce from his wife of 12 years, Axster.

Married in 2009, Bingham and Axster had three children together during their years of marriage. They also worked together professionally; Axster directed some of Bingham’s music videos, and they co-owned a record label known as Axster Bingham Records. Their collaboration appeared harmonious, making the sudden announcement of their separation in June 2021 surprising to many.

What was even more surprising was Bingham’s decision to change his name legally after filing for divorce. At the time of their marriage, Bingham had changed his name from George Ryan Bingham to Ryan Axster Bingham, incorporating his wife’s maiden name. Now, with their marriage ended, he chose to revert to using his birth name, dropping ‘Axster’ from his moniker. However, the specifics of the divorce, including details on the custody of their three children, remain undisclosed.

A Look into Bingham and Axter’s Relationship

Their story began when Bingham was living out of his truck, moving from town to town with his music. Axster, a filmmaker and director, became interested in one of Bingham’s songs and sought him out to use it in a film she was working on. Their relationship bloomed from there, leading to their marriage in August 2009. Their nuptials were officiated by Texas songwriter and visual artist Terry Allen, who read letters the couple had written to each other as their vows.

The couple grew professionally and personally, creating a successful record label and welcoming three children. Axster, who directed most of Bingham’s music videos, also produced her husband’s TV Special Ryan Bingham Live in 2016. Despite Bingham expressing feelings of completeness with his wife and kids in an interview six months before the divorce, their relationship ended in 2021.

On her own, Anna Axster is an entrepreneur and filmmaker. A Master’s degree holder in Filmmaking from the London Film School, she co-founded the company Lodestar Spirits. Her significant work includes the 2015 film ‘A Country Called Home’ and several music videos for Ryan Bingham.

In the wake of their separation, both Bingham and Axster are venturing into new chapters of their lives. Ryan, now single and using his birth name, continues to contribute to the entertainment industry through his acting and music.
