During an interview with Howard Stern, Sarah Jessica Parker shared her childhood memories of writing letters to pianist Billy Joel and expressed her current thoughts on him. The actress discussed her experiences in the interview, stating:

“I can’t really convey how I feel about Billy Joel; I’ve tried to talk about it a million ways. I wrote letters to Billy Joel when I was a little girl… I know every word to every single song, I love him.”

Parker, describing Joel’s personality the way she perceives it, said:

“He’s been really open about being human, and he seems to be rather transparent about his shortcomings — he’s a very human person, and he’s so available. Also, I think he’s like a citizen of New York, you know, in a way you just feel like… he’s somebody that maybe you could have lived down the street from — I never did, unfortunately.”

The Sex and the City star’s admiration for Joel seem to have started at an early age, and whether it is a coincidence or not, Joel’s ‘New York State Of Mind’ was featured in the series.

Manic Street Preachers’ James Dean Bradfield and Nicky Wire sat down with Absolute Radio to share that they started to work on their 15th studio album. James revealed that they have several songs but still no mission statement by saying:

“We just don’t know where it is. I think the main difference is usually, we have some kind of mission statement that we follow – vaguely follow – when we do a new album. But at the moment, this seems like a collection of songs. Yeah, good songs, but there’s no concept at the moment, I don’t think.”

Nicky stood behind James’ comments about not having a ‘mission statement’ by adding:

“No, there’s not [a mission statement]. ‘Ultra Vivid Lament’ was much more conceptual and lonely, and distanced from itself. But this one, it does feel like we’re just writing songs at the moment, but I’m sure I can mold something together!”

The band’s previous album ‘Ultra Vivid Lament’ had the mission statement of resignation and revolution, despair and defiance so  James and Nicky are hopeful that they will figure out the follow-up album’s statement as they keep writing songs and get further in the process of completing the album.

In a recent Twitter post, Corey Taylor fully endorsed the original vocalist of Slipknot, Anders Colsefni, who will perform the band’s demo tape ‘Mate. Feed. Kill. Repeat.’ in full on an upcoming tour.

Upon seeing the news, the frontman wrote:

“Really wish I could be there to see these shows, but I know Anders Colsefni is going to crush them.”

As part of the ‘Numetal Mayhem’ tour, the former lead singer of the band will be performing the record in its entirety during a 12-date series of concerts in Australia and New Zealand. The tour, starting on October 11, will also feature Waylon Reavis, the former vocalist of Mushroomhead.

Anders shared his thoughts on his upcoming shows:

“Ever since Xen [Kaosis singer] called me and let me know we were on for the tour, I have been training every day, not just vocals but kickboxing and cardio. I am fit, strong, and ready to tear Australasia apart! I am psyched to pull this record out of the crypt and deliver it again… probably for the last time ever.”

Before Taylor joined the band as the lead vocalist in 1997, Colsefni performed with Slipknot for two years, starting in 1995. The metal act released the demo tape in 1996.

Cyndi Lauper recently joined an interview with the Hollywood Reporter and disclosed why her first recording of ‘Girls Just Want to Have Fun’ was problematic.

The song was originally written by Robert Hazard but from a male point of view. So, the lyrics were not in tune with Lauper, as the singer said:

“It was like yawn and boring. It wasn’t right for me. I sang his version. I sucked.”

Lauper continued, further explaining why singing Hazard’s version didn’t suit her:

“It was written by a guy, and he was writing, ‘Hey, we’re lucky. They want to have fun. Here I am.’ And it wasn’t that way for me because I’m a woman. I’m not a man. And that would be a problem.”

So, she decided to make some changes to the track to sing it from a female perspective, as the Grammy-winning artist explained in an appearance on PBS’ Finding Your Roots at the beginning of this year:

“So I began to cut this out, cut that out, this needs a melody here, make this change, bring this together. Say, ‘Oh mama dear, we’re not the fortunate ones/’Cause girls want to have fun’ — and we can’t. All of a sudden, it had this new life.”

Eventually, Lauper’s version achieved significant chart success, reaching high positions in various countries. It was also recognized as a feminist anthem. These days, the singer is busy with her new documentary, ‘Let the Canary Sing,’ which will have its world premiere at the 2023 Tribeca Festival.
