Mike Patton of Mr. Bungle has released a public statement regarding the postponement of the band’s upcoming Latin American tour dates, which follows Avenged Sevenfold’s health-related cancellations announced on Instagram.

In his message, Patton acknowledged the disappointment of being forced to cancel multiple shows across South America due to issues affecting their tour partners. “Hey friends, as many of you may have heard, our friends Avenged Sevenfold have had to postpone their tour due to health issues,” Patton said. “We were scheduled to join them on several dates across Latin America, and unfortunately, this means we must also cancel our September/October shows in Argentina, Brazil, Chile, and Mexico.”

He went on to express regret for the impact on fans who had already made plans to attend. “We’re truly sorry to everyone who bought tickets and made plans to spend time with us,” he continued. “Our South American fans have always shown us so much love, and it hurts not to be there with you right now.”

Patton also emphasized that efforts are underway to make new arrangements. “We are already working with Avenged to try and reschedule these shows, and we promise to be back as soon as possible with something special just for you,” he concluded.

Avenged Sevenfold’s decision stems from serious health concerns that forced the band to reassess their touring schedule. According to Metal Addicts, frontman M. Shadows has been diagnosed with a vocal fold hematoma, a condition that affects the vocal cords and requires a long period of rest for proper recovery. As a result, the band has postponed their entire tour until 2026 to allow Shadows enough time to heal without risking lasting damage to his voice.

The postponement significantly disrupts both bands’ plans, as the Latin American leg was set to be a highlight of their collaboration. The affected dates cover multiple South American countries where both Mr. Bungle and Avenged Sevenfold have built strong fanbases over the years.

Fans who purchased tickets for the September and October shows are being advised to hold onto them while new dates are arranged. Anticipation had been especially high for this collaboration, given Mike Patton’s wide-ranging musical background and Avenged Sevenfold’s large following in South America. Despite the cancellations, both bands remain committed to returning once M. Shadows has fully recovered.

Following the Avenged Sevenfold guitarist Synster Gates’ leg injury during the band’s July 19 gig, M. Shadows shared the details on A7X’s Discord server.

Sharing an update on the musician’s condition, the frontman wrote:

“Synyster Gates is back, and [it] seems like a pretty severe contusion of his calf. He’s got crutches and can’t walk on it at the moment. Gonna be sore for a few days.”

He further said:

“Doc said it could be from dehydration, possibly last night’s show, the heat, and not enough water today. Bottom line is he’s watching it closely and hopefully be able to stand on it soon.”

The singer also mentioned in Discord that the band has no plans to cancel any upcoming shows. So, the guitarist will be performing during the remaining North American gigs.

The incident happened during their ‘Life Is but a Dream…‘ tour’s second night in Mansfield, Massachusetts. While playing ‘The Stage,’ Gates abruptly left the stage, leaving his bandmates to finish the song. The band decided to take a 20-minute break to deal with the situation and then couldn’t play their encore due to time constraints.
