Papa Roach singer Jacoby Shaddix recently spoke about the friendly competition between his band, Shinedown, and Spiritbox. Shaddix, Brent Smith of Shinedown, Courtney LaPlante, and Mike Stringer of Spiritbox appeared in a video shared under the title ‘The Revolutions Live: The Roundtable’ on Shinedown’s YouTube channel. The members of the three bands discussed their upcoming tour and spoke about the competition.

Shaddix shared that he loved ‘healthy’ competition and went on to explain what healthy competition means, along with who he learned it from:

“I love that healthy competition. I learned that from Ian MacKaye, the singer from Fugazi. But in the hardcore scene, and we’re not a hardcore band, but when we came up, we were playing in these (notes the small room they’re in), which is on the floor with the people, microphone getting smashed in my face, that’s the kind of venues we were in when we first started.”

Then he explained in what mindset he tours whether or not his band is the headliner:

“The ethos behind that was it didn’t matter who the f*cking headliner was, it was who won the day. That’s it. That’s the mindset that I come with, just in my life in general. It’s like, ‘Alright, let’s get it. Let’s do our best to win the day, Cob.'”

Shinedown and Papa Roach are co-headlining with Spiritbox for the fall leg of ‘The Revolutions Live Tour,’ which started on September 3 and is scheduled to end on October 20.
