Guitarist Nita Strauss talked to Muscle & Fitness about her workout routine and how she works out while on tour and gave advice to people who struggle to commit to a routine.

Nita explained that her decision to workout is related to her live performances and emphasized her sobriety:

“My only focus on fitness was so I could perform onstage. It wasn’t for any health reasons or anything like that. It was a means to an end. That was the real shift. If I’m going to make this change, I really want to make it worth it. I really wanted to take care of my body as best as I can. I traded the bar for the barbell.”

The guitarist also mentioned the mental toll of committing is more effective compared to the physical toll:

“Having to get those pictures done on the same week at the same time is huge. I’m going to have to answer for it if I don’t stick close to my plan. I think the mental part is even bigger than the physical part.”

Strauss also advised her fans and talked about the struggle to initiate a workout routine:

“You need to help yourself, even if it means taking an hour to do something that can help you become stronger. Sometimes, the hardest part is making yourself get started, even with all the emails you have to answer and all that other stuff, put your own oxygen mask on first.”

When Nita returned from her tour with Demi Lovato, she mentioned that touring with a woman-only band, and absent of alcohol backstage were refreshing:

“Demi was a blast to tour with; it was great being around so many women. I think it was an exact 50/50 ratio of men to women on tour, which is unheard of – we had an all-female band. I think there were 12 girls on our bus on this tour, which I have never had during my 21 years touring. It was fun to be on a tour where sobriety was a big part of it; there’s no alcohol backstage, which is nice for me as somebody who is sober.”

Nita Strauss got engaged to her boyfriend, Josh Villalta. During the record release party for her debut solo album ‘The Call Of The Void’, Villalta dropped to one knee in front of the audience and surprised Strauss with a marriage proposal.

The proposal took place on stage at Whisky A Go Go, and many pictures and videos have been captured. The moment was later shared via Instagram by Strauss herself with the following caption:

“Forever yes! I can’t wait to be your wife.”

It is unclear when the couple began their relationship, though Strauss acknowledged their January 12th anniversary in a 2021 Instagram post.

In a new conversation with Loudwire Nights, Nita Strauss disclosed the two bands she wanted to join forces with, apart from Alice Cooper.

When asked who would be a dream collaboration for her, the guitarist replied:

“Metallica. I mean, who else? Give me Metallica. Give me the actual Iron Maiden. I’ve played Iron Maiden songs a lot, but give me the big Maiden. I have fun on big stages with big crowds.”

The possibility of working with artists like Lady Gaga and continuing to play with Demi Lovato would also be exciting for her, as the musician explained:

“So, obviously, someone like Metallica, someone like Iron Maiden, or someone like Lady Gaga, or continuing to play with Demi on that world stage has been incredible. I can’t really think of many people I wouldn’t want to play with. I like what I do. I like playing guitar. I love touring. I love different kinds of music.”

This is not the first time Nita expressed her desire to collaborate with Metallica. When asked if there was any other band that she would be interested in playing guitar for in a 2019 chat with The Roman Show, the guitarist said:

“Oh, so many. So many. You know, I love to play guitar; that’s the thing. If I’m gonna throw the first thing out there, it’s always Metallica. Metallica, if you guys are watching, I’m available.”

Strauss had the chance to perform the Iron Maiden classics during her tenure in The Iron Maidens, which is an all-female tribute act. While her two dream collabs are waiting to happen one day, in her upcoming second solo album, ‘The Call of The Void,’ the musician got to work with names like Marty Friedman, David Draiman, Lzzy Hale, and Chris Motionless.
