Dolly Parton reunited the two living Beatles, Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr together to record a new version of one of the band’s hits ‘Let It Be.’

Parton debuted a cover of the song this Thursday as the latest single from her upcoming rock album ‘Rockstar.’ Parton stated that she was so proud to be able to sing such songs with McCartney.

According to the singer, McCartney not only sang the song with her, but he also played piano, with Starr playing the drums. The rest of the lineup for the song consists of Mick Fleetwood of Fleetwood Mac playing percussion and Peter Frampton of Ringo Starr & His All-Starr Band playing guitar.

She shared her gratitude with the following:

“Well, does it get any better than singing ‘Let It Be’ with Paul McCartney, who wrote the song? Not only that, he played piano! Well, it did get even better when Ringo Starr joined in on drums, Peter Frampton on guitar, and Mick Fleetwood playing percussion. I mean, seriously, how much better does it get? Thanks guys!”

Parton called the collaboration ‘a mini The Beatles reunion,’ sharing that the drums were initially recorded by another drummer but she later wanted to replace it with Starr. She explained in Talk Shop Live:

“We thought, well why don’t we just replace the drummer with Ringo? And so that’s what we did because I thought ‘Wow, that would be all the Beatles.”

The upcoming album ‘Rockstar’ is scheduled to come out on November 17. The album has 30 tracks, featuring a mix of covers and original songs. The singer collaborated with more than 40 artists for the album, such as Elton John, Pink, Steven Tyler, Sting, and many more.

Fresh from his All-Starr Band’s spring tour, Ringo Starr sat down with Rolling Stone to talk about the past and future of his career. During the chat, he revealed that the late George Harrison had recorded parts for the new Beatles song before his passing in 2001. He also noted that this was their final effort as a band by saying:

“This was beautiful, and it’s the final track you’ll ever hear with the four lads. And that’s a fact.”

In some part of the interview, Starr also spoke of his birthday event, ‘Peace and Love,’ which was celebrated all over the world and broadcasted into space last year. Recalling the origin of the occasion, he explained:

“In 2008, I was being interviewed, and the interviewer said, ‘Well, Ringo, what would you like your fans to give you for your birthday?’ And I don’t know where it came from, but I thought it would be great if at noon they could go ‘peace and love,’ and that’s how it started. We started with 80 people… and now it’s 28 countries.”

While the former Beatles member will turn 83 with this year’s ‘Peace and Love,’ he expressed no plans for retirement. He told Rolling Stone:

“You never know when you’re gonna drop, that’s the thing, and I’m not dropping yet.”

In fact, the drummer’s band has another tour waiting to kick off in September. With this year’s lineup, including names like Steve Lukather and Colin Hay, All-Starr Band will travel North America until mid-October.
