In a statement shared with Louder Sound, he addressed the circulating rumors directly.

“There’s no rivalry between us (with Slaughter To Prevail) whatsoever,” O’Connor said. “To be honest, we don’t pay any attention to what they’re doing. We’re only interested in what we want to do.”

Vocalist Will Ramos also offered his perspective on the band’s unexpected ascent within the metal community.

“The fun thing is not knowing how we got so big,” Ramos said. “Not having control over what we’re doing and just letting it work its way out is more exciting than sitting there and trying to figure out how we captured lightning in a bottle. That’s boring.”

He further emphasized the natural growth of their career: “And I think the fact that it happened organically is like a bonus. Everything’s very genuine. Maybe that has something to do with why people like it.”

Both Lorna Shore and Slaughter to Prevail continue to make waves in the deathcore scene, with their latest releases sparking considerable excitement among fans. Notably, Lorna Shore’s “Cursed to Die” and Slaughter to Prevail’s “1984” have ignited passionate conversations online about the future of the genre.

Lorna Shore’s rise, however, has not come without difficulties. According to Wikipedia, the band has undergone major lineup changes in recent years, including the replacement of both a vocalist and a guitarist. These shifts, while challenging, played a role in shaping the group’s current identity. The addition of Will Ramos as frontman, in particular, helped refine their distinctive sound. Their growth highlights how authenticity and genuine artistry resonate more strongly with audiences than industry-driven hype.

Rather than fueling rivalry, the simultaneous success of both bands showcases the creativity and innovation within the deathcore genre. This healthy competition not only pushes each band to evolve but also benefits the entire metal community.

The controversy arose when a fan asked him about a sensitive issue. In response to the direct question, “Are you homophobic?” Alex Terrible replied: “Yes. Also a Nazi.” Following the backlash, he released a lengthy statement defending his response as sarcasm.

“This is a clear example of why many people don’t like me — and some even hate me,” he wrote. “A lot of people can’t even recognize sarcasm. And you think that’s my fault? Of course not. When people say I’m a terrible person, that I shouldn’t have a platform, and that I should be ‘canceled,’ you’re dealing with exactly those kinds of people.”

His statement also criticized online culture and those who took his words at face value.

“And believe me, I’ve chosen the ‘softest’ answers here. I left out the obscene and vile ones,” he continued. “Then you ask me why people call me a transphobe, a Nazi, and so on? Because so many people are ready to believe literally anything they see on the internet. Because many of them don’t have a sense of sarcasm, or they simply lack the ability to analyze and structure information.”

Alex Terrible concluded by thanking his supporters while dismissing his critics. “As for all the others who disagree with me, hate me for it, and want others to do the same – I wish them to go fuck themselves,” he said. “I won’t be lenient or kind to you. I simply don’t care about you, or I’ll just tell you straight: fuck off.”

This controversy is the latest in the complex story of the Russian-born vocalist. His career has seen both major achievements and persistent challenges.

According to The Metal Verse, Alex Terrible, born Aleksandr Shikolai, founded Slaughter to Prevail in Russia in 2014. He built a cult following with his extreme vocal style, and the band’s reputation grew through viral performances and ferocious deathcore music. This momentum led to a record deal with Sumerian Records in 2016. WKNC reported that the band initially struggled to tour internationally due to visa complications, which hindered their ability to expand their global fanbase.

In recent years, Alex Terrible relocated to Florida, a decision highlighted by Loudwire as motivated by better career opportunities and quality of life, despite ongoing geopolitical tensions involving Russia.

His pragmatic career moves reflect a strong dedication to his craft, though his outspoken online presence continues to stir controversy. This latest incident underscores broader debates about sarcasm, humor, and accountability in public statements by musicians on social media.

In an interview with Craig Reynolds, he shared the story, focusing on the cancellation of a European tour and the personal decisions that followed. When asked about covering up his tattoo, Terrible gave a straightforward explanation of what happened.

“When we got the problem on European tour. So, we got the European tour cancelled because of my tattoo and because of my surroundings,” Terrible said. “And people start to say like, ‘He listened to right-wing music,’ and all this sh*t. Which is true because I just like that music not about lyrics or not about like political views.”

He described how his music choices and online activity fueled the controversy.

“For example, my friend listened to this band, I was like, This is sick riff,’ you know. This band, You Must Murder, which is completely Nazi band, and I love few songs and I was like, ‘I really enjoy that music.’ I literally don’t give a sh*t about lyrics and I cannot understand the lyrics, you know. And I just put it on my playlist on VK page and people just screenshot it,” he continued.

The issue escalated further when old photographs resurfaced online.

“And people just bring the sh*t up, you know, and they found my picture. I’m standing with the rifle. The f*cking Third Reich used this rifle back in the days like the war. With this f*cking hat. Like an SS hat. So, I went to my friend’s house. This friend’s his father very big collector and he has a lot of stuff from war which is like USSR and Nazi and all of that. And I was like this issick. Let’s take a picture with this sh*t, you know? And I put it on my social media,” Terrible admitted.

Looking back, he accepted responsibility for his behavior.

“Like I’m just being stupid being a little boy. But I was not a boy. I was ilke around 19. But it doesn’t matter. It’s just excuses. I was stupid, right? And I have to take this responsibility because I wasn’t a boy. I was a grown man already. So, which is like understand I’m paying the price right now,” he said. Terrible then explained his reasons for covering up the tattoos, citing both his career and personal growth.

“I covered my tattoos not just because I changed my views or like I I changed my mind or something. I was scared for my career. And I’m completely honest, you know, but also because you didn’t want to be associated or after that. So I covered that, right? Because I was scared,” he stated.

The controversy continues to influence Slaughter To Prevail’s touring reputation. It demonstrates how past actions can leave long-lasting effects in the digital era.

According to Loaded Radio, the band’s 2026 European tour is already facing backlash tied to Terrible’s past. With support from Dying Fetus and Suicide Silence, the lineup has been criticized heavily by fans who point to his tattoos, social media history, and perceived political leanings. This shows that Terrible’s past decisions still affect how the band is perceived.

Still, Slaughter To Prevail is moving forward with plans for a global tour. Official announcements confirm they will begin in Moscow, travel through Europe and North America, and finish in Japan. Despite controversy, their live performances continue to attract fans worldwide, highlighting their strong appeal to the core metal audience. Beyond politics, the band has also encountered practical setbacks: Chaoszine reported they were forced to cancel three shows due to transportation problems, showing how different challenges impact touring groups today.

Ultimately, this situation highlights the complicated connection between personal history and professional life for artists in the age of social media. Mistakes made years ago can resurface and create lasting challenges for musicians and their careers.

The news was shared through a statement on the band’s official Instagram account, where they explained the circumstances and voiced their frustration.

“Unfortunately, due to visa issues we will no longer be able to play our upcoming Canadian shows supporting Falling in Reverse,” the band said. “We’re all super disappointed and wanted nothing more than to play these shows. However, sometimes problems outside of our control get in the way.”

The band elaborated on the difficulties they faced regarding documentation and travel.

“When we were first preparing for tour, Alex had issues with his passport and US visa which prevented him from leaving the US,” they continued. “After exploring every option and numerous calls with our lawyers, we were able to secure Alex’s visa but have been left waiting for his passport to be returned. We were ready to catch the next flights to Canada as soon as the passport was in our hands but the delivery was delayed further.”

Slaughter to Prevail also expressed regret to their Canadian audience and promised to make up for the cancellations. “Sorry to all the Canadian fans who were excited to see us,” they said. “We’re working hard to make up for these cancellations in the future and already have plans in place. We’ll see you in Spring.”

Despite the setback in Canada, the band confirmed that their remaining tour schedule is unaffected. “The good news is that moving forward all further shows on this current tour in Europe/Mexico will be going ahead as planned,” they concluded. “It’s been a long and stressful process but we are finally in a place of stability with our travel and touring.”

The cancellations particularly affect fans who were eager to see the Russian deathcore act share the stage with one of metalcore’s biggest names. According to SeatGeek, the scrapped Canadian dates include Falling in Reverse’s September 10 and 11, 2025 performances at Toronto’s Budweiser Stage and Montreal’s Centre Bell, two of the country’s top concert venues.

Live Nation has confirmed that Falling in Reverse’s God Is a Weapon tour—featuring a setlist packed with fan favorites like “Popular Monster” and “God Is a Weapon”—will proceed without Slaughter to Prevail. The tour remains one of the most anticipated metal events of the year, making the absence of the support act especially disappointing for the community.

Slaughter to Prevail’s experience underscores the challenges international artists face with border crossings and immigration processes. Originally formed in Russia and now operating globally, the band has repeatedly had to navigate complex travel and visa requirements to maintain its touring schedule.

Meanwhile, Falling in Reverse, led by frontman Ronnie Radke, continues to ride the momentum of their latest releases, keeping their North American tour a major draw for fans. While the show will go on, many concertgoers will feel the absence of Slaughter to Prevail from the lineup.
