Nikki Sixx recently offered clarity on the future of his band Sixx:A.M., addressing fan questions in a statement posted on X (formerly Twitter).

The message came after a supporter asked directly whether the group would release new music. The fan wrote, “Nikki, will Sixx:A.M. release a new album? You three are geniuses!” Sixx replied plainly: “No plans right now,” Sixx said.

He then went on to explain his other creative endeavors outside the band. “We have a lot of other projects me and my wife are developing,” he continued. “I also have an Animation company and other fun creative things that involve music as well. More to be revealed.”

As Mötley Crüe prepares to wrap up their Vegas residency, Sixx made it clear that his attention will shift toward diverse creative projects rather than traditional touring.

This update represents a notable pause for Sixx:A.M., a group that has been active in the rock world for nearly twenty years. His comments signal an evolution in focus, moving beyond the conventional band model.

According to Ultimate Classic Rock, Sixx:A.M. began as a soundtrack companion to Sixx’s New York Times bestselling memoir The Heroin Diaries, before unexpectedly achieving mainstream success. Their breakout single, “Life Is Beautiful,” climbed into the Top 5 at rock radio and paved the way for a run of hits across five studio albums, before the band went on hiatus in 2021.

Last.fm notes the group was formed in 2007 in Los Angeles with vocalist James Michael and guitarist DJ Ashba, their name blending the members’ last names. Much of their catalog explored deeply personal themes tied to Sixx’s own experiences.

The band’s discography includes well-regarded albums such as The Heroin Diaries Soundtrack (2007), This Is Gonna Hurt (2011), and Modern Vintage (2014), as highlighted by Wikipedia. Their blend of hard rock and reflective lyrics established Sixx:A.M. as more than a mere side project.

Now, Sixx’s focus on animation and other creative outlets reflects his ongoing push to explore new artistic territory. His mention of joint projects with his wife also points to a more collaborative phase in his career, moving beyond the band-driven framework that defined much of his past work.
