A user recently tweeted how names such as Alice Cooper, Paul Stanley, and Snider had been ‘silenced’ due to their anti-gender affirmation comments.

Upon seeing the statement, the Twisted Sister frontman responded with a tweet of his own, stating whether he was ‘terrified into silence:’

“Excuse me? Terrified into silence? Selective listening much. Go to my Facebook page and check out how terrified I was. My response got international coverage. They couldn’t cancel me in the 80s, and you can’t cancel me today. And you can’t make sh*t up as you wish.”

Snider had received backlash on a previous note after supporting Paul Stanley’s controversial stance against gender affirmation care. However, although the KISS frontman apologized for his comments later on, the Twisted Sister frontman stated he’d stand by his words.

On the other hand, Alice Cooper also was dropped by his cosmetics collaborator, Vampyre, upon taking an anti-trans stance in a recent interview. A short while after that, the rocker also announced that he wouldn’t be continuing his longtime radio show.

You can check out Dee’s tweet below.

He criticized their decision to go on after retirement announcements.

First, naming KISS and Ozzy Osbourne, the singer said:

“I see people singing ‘Crazy Nights,’ and they’re not so crazy anymore. I’m not gonna name names. I always b*tch about people who retire, sell us the ‘No More Tours’ shirt — Ozzy — and then come back a few years later, ‘We love you, we love you.’ That’s bullshit.”

Then, mentioning Scorpions, he went on:

“And people say, ‘Well, that’s f*cked up.’ No — stay forever, man. Stay forever. We don’t want you to leave. Just don’t do a three-year farewell tour — Scorpions — and then say you changed your mind. Because you haven’t played every place? No, you’ve played every place — twice.”

Snider also reflected on Twisted Sister’s own retirement from touring in 2016. He expressed that the decision was partly influenced by his wish to avoid letting fans see him aging on stage. Then, he added:

“Look, I’m not a b*tcher and moaner, but I’ve had knee surgery, shoulder surgery, throat surgery, neck surgery… I can’t lift my arms up. It hurts when I throw the horns. F*ck! It’s not supposed to hurt… So I’d rather walk off with some dignity and leave you guys with a positive memory, saying, ‘We wanted more,’ than to overstay your welcome and say, ‘Gee, when is this guy gonna get off the f*cking stage, man?'”

On the other hand, the band briefly reunited for their induction into the Metal Hall of Fame at The Canyon Club earlier this year. After the show, the vocalist said there were no plans for more shows.

But, in April 2023, he announced that Twisted Sister would show up for a few performances in 2024 during the election season to reclaim ‘We’re Not Gonna Take It.’

Snider revealed several bands that he thought did not fit the genres assigned to them, including Alice In Chains and Soundgarden. The singer explained:

“I didn’t think Alice In Chains and Soundgarden were grunge. I didn’t think the Sex Pistols were punk. I know Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath, and AC/DC hated being called heavy metal.”

This conversation about genres and different forms of music came about when a fan asked Dee if he minded the term ‘Hair Metal,’ the rocker replied:

“I’m the OG Hair Farmer, so no. What does bother me is that all of the ‘designations’ were given by critics as a way to trivialize different forms of music. Heavy Metal, Grunge, Punk, Hair Metal, Jazz, Nu Metal – None of the artists that started these music forms liked the names.”

Snider doesn’t think Alice In Chains and Soundgarden are grunge bands, however when another fan commented on Led Zeppelin not being a heavy metal band, the rocker wrote:

“They (and Black Sabbath) are the fathers of what became known as heavy metal.”

Even though Dee shared in his previous tweet that he was not a fan of bands’ being labeled, he was insistent on explaining to a fan who wasn’t convinced Led Zeppelin was in the same category as Black Sabbath. The singer continued:

“Listen and learn. I am an original headbanger. First album Blue Cheer, first album Mountain, first album Grand Funk, first album Led Zeppelin, and first album Black Sabbath…When they were released. These were hard rock bands. Led Zeppelin & Sabbath were labeled metal. I was there (I’m old).”

In response to one of them, he repeated his early claims about Metallica’s future and revealed how James Hetfield reacted to it years later.

When a fan asked the following question:

“I don’t know if you ever addressed this, but what was your first reaction from watching/hearing Metallica when you shared a bill with them in the mid ’80’s?”

Snider recalled his early prediction and the Metallica frontman’s delight with it as follows:

“I’ve made this statement many times. Hetfield reached out to me for the 1st time in almost 40 years when he heard it on SXMLiquidMetal with Jose Mangin. Told me he busted out laughing…

‘These guys (Metallica) have a lot of heart, but they’re never gonna go anywhere.'”

Upon this tweet, another Twitter user reminded him of a 2021 interview with Speak & Destroy, where the former Twisted Sister vocalist appreciated the band’s success. So, he stressed his point in that chat and wrote:

“People, please, listen! I loved the band. I go on to explain Metallica were just so uncompromising & heavy I couldn’t imagine radio or MTV ever playing them. Metallica never gave a damn inch. They did it their way. Nothing but respect for those boys. Like I said, James love it!”

Then, a fan got curious about the band members’ attitudes after decades of fame and asked:

“Did the guys from Metallica really remain down to earth despite the success and glory? I hope so! It seems they still are, and I find it inspiring that rockstars like Metallica and you [are] still able to remain true to who you are and be connected to people.”

Referring to the last time he talked to Hetfield and the others, Snider explained:

“Last time I saw the guys was after our tour in Holland when they came to congratulate us on our success at the Cow Palace in San Fran. Very down to earth. Just spoke to James for the first time in 39 years a few months ago. Sounded the same to me!“
