Thomas Haden Church began his entertainment journey as a radio host and voice actor. During the 1990s, he took on the role of aircraft mechanic Lowell Mather in the NBC sitcom ‘Wings’ and played one of the title characters in ‘Ned and Stacey.’
He later appeared in movies like ‘Tombstone,’ ‘George of the Jungle,’ ‘The Specials,’ and ‘Demon Knight.’ Church portrayed Jack Cole in the 2003 movie ‘Sideways’ alongside Paul Giamatti. The actor even earned an Independent Spirit Award and an Academy Award nomination for this role.
Later, Thomas appeared in ‘Idiocracy,’ did voice-over work for ‘Over the Hedge,’ and starred in the Emmy-winning TV show ‘Broken Trail’ in 2006. He also took on the character of Flint Marko/Sandman in ‘Spider-Man 3’ and also in ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home.’ Speaking to Comic Book in July 2023 about the possibility of ‘Spider-Man 4,’ the actor said:
“I’ve heard rumors…that Sam Raimi was going to do another [‘Spider-Man’] with Tobey, and if that happens, I would probably campaign to maybe at least do a cameo.”
In 2005, Church became a member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. Then, in October 2008, he played ‘Joe Six-Pack’ in a video on funnyordie.com, challenging Joe the Plumber to a beer-drinking contest. Thomas also had roles in the web series ‘Zombie Roadkill’ and the HBO series ‘Divorce.’
In December 2021, it was announced that he would star alongside Toni Collette and Anna Faris in the comedy film ‘The Estate,’ directed by Dean Craig. In March 2023, he took on the role of Lloyd in the movie ‘Acidman.’
As for his upcoming project, the actor is set to star in ‘Chocolate Lizards,’ which is an American comedy-drama film directed by Mark Lambert Bristol. It will be released on April 29. He will also appear in the forthcoming epic Western film ‘Horizon: An American Saga,’ which consists of two parts. Split into two parts, ‘Chapter 1’ is set for release on June 28, 2024, with ‘Chapter 2’ following on August 16, 2024.
