Foo Fighters have revealed a surprise concert after a lengthy hiatus. In a statement posted on Instagram, they shared details of the show along with a bold message aimed at their fans.

“SOUND ON. See you Saturday in San Luis Obispo on September 13th,” the band announced.

The poster for the event also carried a striking line: “No one hates us more than our fans.”

This marks the band’s return following a break from live performances. Since parting ways with drummer Josh Freese, they have yet to officially confirm a replacement, fueling speculation that the San Luis Obispo concert could be where they unveil their new drummer.

Freese, who joined in 2023 after the passing of Taylor Hawkins, was recently dismissed, sparking ongoing chatter in the rock world. According to Ultimate Guitar, Foo Fighters have already secured a new drummer, though the band has chosen to keep their identity hidden for now, heightening fan intrigue.

The decision to stage this intimate San Luis Obispo show seems deliberate, giving the group an opportunity to showcase the new lineup before rolling out larger tour dates. The sharp message about fan resentment highlights the band’s complicated bond with its audience, who have been outspoken about lineup changes and the band’s direction since Hawkins’ death in 2022.
