In April 2019, Bridgit Mendler announced her engagement to his now-husband, Griffin Cleverly, by posting a photo of them showing off the engagement ring and writing ‘Looking forward to holding your hand forever’ on Instagram. Shortly after, Mendler and Cleverly exchanged vows at a beach wedding, tying the knot after two years of dating.
While the couple shared photos from the ceremony on social media, the singer/actress talked about it in an interview with Extra by saying:
“It was magical. There was a great sunset, and there was actually even this dude who built a sandcastle behind us while we were getting married — in his board shorts, constructing this beautiful, amazing sandcastle. While we are doing our vows, I could just see him in my eye line.”
Cleverly and Mendler first met in 2017 through a mutual friend. As they started dating, the Reston, Virgina-born mechanical engineer joined the Space Vendor Corporation to work on the product development life cycle of launching vehicle components in 2018.
The now-32-year-old man started his career in 2013 with an internship at Magzor Corporation. Before that, while two of his three sisters studied at the California State University-Channel Islands, he graduated from the University of California, Los Angeles, with a degree in Mechanical Engineering.
After a few years of working as a design and proposal engineer at Babcock Power Inc., Cleverly got a job as an engineer with Lockheed Martin Corporation in 2019. The same year, he also became a research associate at the Space Exploration Initiative at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
Although Cleverly and his wife occasionally shared pictures with each other on social media after the wedding, they mostly kept their relationship private. Still, it is known that the couple is currently living in Mill Valley, California.
