Tom Morello of Rage Against The Machine has asked fans to help Jesse Malin, who was left paralyzed after his spinal stroke. Morello shared Rolling Stone’s article and asked fans for donations with the explanation:
“The great Jesse Malin, an iconic NY rocker, huge Clash fan, and good hearted dude who’s always organizing benefits for those in need, had a stroke and now needs some help. Check out article and donate whatever you can if you can.”
Malin was at dinner with his friends in the East Village to commemorate the one-year anniversary of his former D Generation bandmate Howie Pyro’s death when he suffered the stroke. He was taken to the hospital immediately, where the doctors told the rocker he suffered a rare spinal cord infarction.
Malin made a public post about the injury a few weeks ago, announcing that he had to cancel the shows and weeks later, he was left paralyzed from the waist down.
Malin’s friends and family have organized a fundraiser to help with his recovery, and though how much money they gather, the diagnosis, reportedly, is inoperable and the musician will have to use a wheelchair.
