Talking Heads reunited for a question and answer session at the Toronto International Film Fest. The band recently celebrated the 40th anniversary of their film, ‘Stop Making Sense.’ This recent event has brought the band together, making it their first public appearance all together in over 20 years.
The frontman, David Byrne, reflected on the band’s reunion in The New York Times. He said:
“Divorces are never easy. We get along OK. It’s all very cordial and whatever. It’s not like we’re all best friends. But everybody’s very happy to see this film coming back out.”
Byrne then expressed his joy for the band’s reunion:
“We’re all united in the fact that we really love what we did here. So that kind of helps us talk to one another and get along.”
A month before the frontman’s latest words, he stated that he regrets the way the band broke up.
According to the band’s drummer, Chris Frantz, he tried a few times to get the band back together, but it didn’t work out due to Byrne’s harsh response. Frantz explained the situation with the following:
“I did try it a couple of times, and the last time was about 20 years ago, and after that, David just said, ‘I never want you to ask me that question again. I’m not going to address that matter.’ It’s a shame and it is what it is.”
Although the frontman said the mentioned words last year, he most recently made it clear that it was so good to be back with his bandmates.
