In a new interview with Guitar World, Brian Setzer revealed why he kept the unreleased music of The Clash’s Joe Strummer a secret.

Back in the day, Setzer worked with Strummer before his passing away but never released them. In the recent interview to discuss his new album, ‘The Devil Always Collects,’ he was asked about his earlier discussion about the songs he wrote with The Clash rocker. Sharing whether or not he ever considered including any of these songs in his new album, he said:

“No. That was in a different style. I’ve got three or four [songs] around, but I like to think that I guard Joe. I don’t talk about him too much. We were close friends. I like to keep his memory the way I think he would like it.”

Setzer then revealed why he wouldn’t share them publicly:

“If those songs ever see the light of day, I’d probably run them past Lucinda, his widow — ‘Would it be all right if I did this?’ — just because I have that much respect for him.”

Setzer described his friendship with Strummer as ‘family-vacation’ friends and shared that they would spend the whole summer together when he and his family came to California.

Although he never intended to release any of the songs out of respect, one of the songs was leaked by a user on YouTube. According to what the user wrote in the video’s description, the song is only available in the Japanese CD version of the album, ‘Guitar Slinger.’ You can listen to the title track below.

OneRepublic recently teamed up with Ubisoft to release a new song for ‘Assassin’s Creed Mirage.’ Entitled ‘Mirage,’ the song was a collaboration of OneRepublic and Mishaal Tamer in which the setting and the narrative were used for lyrics and melody.

In a recent interview with Audacy Music, Ryan Tedder spoke about the collaboration. According to the band, it was the most different and coolest song they had ever made in their music career. He also revealed the band to be ‘big gamers.’ He said:

“That came together just a buddy of ours at the record label was like, ‘Hey…’ He knows video games, and ‘Assassin’s Creed’ was one of them. We were on tour, and we are big gamers. I think a lot of bands are. So, we heard about ‘Assassin’s Creed’ back in the spring, and they were going to launch a new one called ‘Mirage.'”

He recalled the first time he got the call and revealed how much time it took the band to write the lyrics:

“We were in Bangkok, I think, when I first got the call about it and literally started writing it that day. We didn’t even know what the game was about. We just knew kind of the name of it. It was one of the fastest things we have ever done. We heard about it, and 24 hours later, I was writing the lyrics and what became ‘Mirage.’ And we filmed it in Malta, which looks like ancient Middle East. ‘Assassin’s Creed’ takes place in Iraq like ancient Babylon.”

He then went on to admire Mishaal Tamer and his collaboration with the band for the song:

“Mishaal Tamer, who has opened us, a Saudi Arabian artist, he featured on it, which is incredible. He’s singing in Arabic, and the bridge was amazing. It’s by far the most different sounding record we have ever done and one of the coolest things we’ve ever done.”

Tamer referred to releasing a song for the game and recording with OneRepublic as ‘a dream come true.’

Earlier, Redder spoke about having the opportunity to record a song for the game and told the press release that he wanted to capture the spirit of that region and reflect the location of the game sonically as much as possible.

‘Assassin’s Creed Mirage’ has been launched on October 5.

John Mayer recently discussed his music career as well as dueting with his ex, Katy Perry.

During an appearance on the Watch What Happens Live With Andy Cohen After Show Monday, Mayer was asked by a virtual fan to name his least favorite album. While he placed ‘Paradise Valley’ at the bottom of his favorites, host Cohen pointed out a fan-favorite track from the album: ‘Who You Love,’ featuring Katy Perry. The singer said of the 2013 duet:

“Isn’t that great? I’m glad. I’m glad we did that. That was sort of like early ‘Sob Rock’ prototype stuff. It was just at the point where I was saying, ‘Why can’t I make music from a different era?’ If I love a style of music and I want to make it, like a genre, why can’t I make music that I was pretending was from a different era?”

He then shared his thoughts on Perry’s voice in the song:

“And that was sort of like a prototype to ‘Sob Rock.’ It was sort of like an FM Light radio thing, and ‘Sob Rock’ is a little more realized, but I listen to that every once in a while, and I go, ‘I like that song.’ I like the way that she sounds on the song. She got that way of singing down and met the challenge of that song. It was so much fun.”

Despite the break-up, the two don’t seem like they have any conflicts now.

The Aquaman actor Jason Momoa is accused of bullying Johnny Depp’s former wife, Amber Heard.

According to Variety, on the day the trailer of ‘Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom’ was released, some Reddit users paid to obtain the documents of the Johnny Depp – Heard defamation case and published them on the internet.

The newly released notes, reportedly scribbled in a legal pad by Heard’s therapist, include statements that Momoa walked around the set drunk, dressed like Johnny Depp and that the actor attempted to get Heard fired. The notes said:

“Jason said he wanted me fired. Jason drunk — late on set. Dressing like Johnny. Has all the rings too.”

The news states that Heard was almost fired from the role of Mera after the release of 2018’s ‘Aquaman,’ but the firing couldn’t happen due to the lawsuit she had with Depp.

A DC spokesperson opposed the Momoa allegations in the report and said the following:

“Jason Momoa conducted himself in a professional manner at all times on the set of ‘Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom.'”

Others added to the statement:

“Jason works his ass off, likes to have a beer once in a while like everyone, but doesn’t show up drunk to set.”

An insider also claimed that Momoa and Heard were seen joking on the set. The insider added:

“And he isn’t dressing like Johnny Depp. He has always dressed in that bohemian style.”

Heard was not fired from the project, but it is said that the reason for this was Elon Musk’s intervention. According to Variety, Musk, Heard’s ex-boyfriend, had one of his lawyers send ‘a scorched-earth letter to Warner Bros. threatening to burn the house down,’ and WB brought Heard back to the sequel.

According to Variety, the shooting of ‘Aquaman and The Lost Kingdom’ cost 215 million dollars in total. It’s now uncertain that the film will repeat the billion-dollar success of the first film when it is released on December 20.

Desmond Child recently appeared on Appetite for Destruction to discuss his memoir, family life, and more. During the chat, the producer shared his favorite songs and revealed the one song he was jealous of. When asked, Child named Billie Eilish and one of her current songs. He revealed:

“I’m so jealous of Billie Eilish’s song in ‘Barbie,’ ‘What Was I Made For?’ I mean, that’s gotta win the Oscar, hands down.”

Child touched on the emotional side of the song:

“That song is so touching and deep, profound and existential. She got it just right with her brother and everything with that song. I was surprised how that song hit me. I’m jealous, jealous, jealous. Billie Eilish and her magnificent song from ‘Barbie.'”

Earlier, the producer called Eilish ‘fantastic,’ along with a few other names.

Eilish’s song for the movie ‘Barbie,’ has topped the charts, hit first place on the Australian chart, and became the U.S. pop phenomenon’s 15th top 10 appearance.

Rainbow frontman Ronnie Romero appeared on White Line Fewer TV to discuss songs and career, where he considered himself expensive.

While discussing how people disappear suddenly the moment money talk enters the conversation, Romero explained why he thinks he is expensive:

“I am very honest with people. So the first thing I say is, ‘Listen, I know you wanna work with me, I like the music, but I’m expensive.’ That’s the first thing, so we have everything clear. And why I’m expensive? Obviously, first of all, because I’m good. Not because I’m saying that I’m good because a lot of people say that I’m good.”

He also made it clear that he would accept offers if asked:

“I work with this guy and this guy and this other guy, then I ask, ‘How is your budget?’ So we can talk about it. I’m not that kind of guy that asks for; for example, I ask for five thousand euros for a song, and then the guy says, ‘Ah, but I have four thousand.’ Ah, no, no, no, I can do it for four thousand. It’s always to talk.”

Despite being an ‘expensive’ musician, the rocker’s music career is not all about money. He explained:

“I did records for free, also, just because I liked the music and because I saw some potential on the record, and I try to help this guy to get a record deal, and that’s it. Sometimes you do that also because I had that opportunity. So when you can help somebody, I think it’s better than to just get money, go to the studio, and send the tracks back; it’s more worth it for me. So I can do that also.”

Earlier, the rocker slammed the music industry for being forced to be cheap or free. In the statement he shared on Facebook in late 2020, Romero wrote that he was sick of people who were being rude for no reason and trying to get into work with him for free. He also shared his belief that people will blame and judge him no matter what he does.

Romero joined Rainbow in 2015, after which he was offered many works. Although the singer had been unemployed at the time of joining, he later realized that he wanted to do more than just earn money and desired to find deeper meaning in his work.

Paul McCartney picked his favorite songs from every band and project he has been in, and changed his favorite The Beatles song.

Two years ago, the rocker named ‘You Know My Name (Look Up the Number)’ as his favorite song of his time with The Beatles, and recently, he named another as his favorite.

On McCartney’s website, he was asked a question he received on Twitter from a fan. The fan asked him about his favorite songs from all his The Beatles, Wings, and solo times to show an alien who’s never heard of his music. After narrowing down his choices, he shared:

“It’s always very hard to narrow down favorite songs, so what I do is just make a guess. What comes to my head for The Beatles would be ‘Yesterday’ – I’d say that was an important moment. But then again, my inner voice says, ‘What about ‘Hey Jude’? What about ‘Let It Be’…?’ So, it is a very difficult question to answer. But I’ll plump for ‘Yesterday.'”

He then shared his favorites from his Wings times:

“For the Wings period, I’ll go for ‘Band on the Run,’ although I’ve just heard recently the song ‘Arrow Through Me’ is really getting all sorts of attention, so maybe the aliens would like that! I always liked it myself as a song, but it’s obviously been played somewhere recently, and people are going mad on the streaming.”

McCartney recalled one of Wings’ songs playing in the kids’ animation movie ‘Boss Baby,’ and shared his younger fans’ reaction to the song while expressing his happiness:

“I remember ‘Blackbird’ was in the film Boss Baby - it’s an animation film for kids – and parents would come up me and say, ‘You know my kid’s favourite song of yours? It’s ‘Blackbird’!’ It is great that this young generation is getting into the song. I wrote it so long ago and it’s resonating with them now – it’s quite amazing, it’s very gratifying. But anyway, that aside, let’s say ‘Band on the Run’ would be my choice for Wings.”

The Beatle revealed his favorite solo song to be from his earlier works:

“Then, for my solo period, I would go for ‘Coming Up’ from McCartney II.”

Though McCartney recently chose his favorite Beatles song to be ‘Yesterday,’ when he first named ‘You Know My Name (Look Up the Number),’ he claimed that he always named that particular song whenever asked about his favorite track. He additionally named ‘Strawberry Fields,’ ‘Hey Jude,’ ‘Blackbird,’ and ‘Eleanor Rigby.’

Stevie Nicks opened up about her longtime friend and late bandmate Christine McVie. During a recent interview with Vulture, she revealed her plans for Fleetwood Mac that might upset the fans.

In November 2022, McVie passed away due to a stroke caused by an aggressive form of cancer that had spread throughout her body. Since her passing, the band has been left with a gap.

Nicks was asked if the band would consider touring again, to which the musician replied with the following:

“There’s no reason to.”

She continued while mourning the passing of her best friend:

“When Christine died, I felt like you can’t replace her. You can’t replace her, you just can’t. Without her, what is it? You know what I mean? She was like my soul mate, my musical soul mate, and my best friend that I spent more time with than any of my other best friends outside of Fleetwood Mac. Christine was my best friend.”

She then referred to the pop star Taylor Swift’s song ‘You’re On Your Own, Kid,’ especially the lyrics, ‘You’re on your own kid / You always have been.’ She revealed that her late friend and she related to the lyrics and touched on the continuation of Fleetwood Mac:

“That was Christine and I. We were on our own in that band. We always were. We protected each other. Who am I going to look over to on the right and have them not be there behind that Hammond organ? When she died, I figured we really can’t go any further with this. There’s no reason to.”

Nicks earlier thanked Swift for writing the particular song that resonated with her sorrow after McVie’s death.

Earlier in another interview, Nicks admitted that she pretends McVie is still alive and that it is her way of coping with her passing.

Mike Campbell, too, shared that it is unlikely for the band to tour after McVie’s passing, claiming that Nicks is too busy but would consider rejoining if they were to start touring again.

Fleetwood Mac made their latest tour in 2019, a year after they fired Lindsey Buckingham. Although Nicks now doesn’t plan to tour, Campbell’s earlier suggestion to rejoin the band makes it seem like a possibility that only time will tell.

Former Genesis frontman Peter Gabriel recently talked about his collaboration with Skrillex. In a new video on his YouTube Channel, the former singer shared details about his upcoming new LP ‘I/O,’ which he has been working on for more than two decades.

The singer shared the process of his newly released song, ‘This Is Home,’ getting a call from the DJ and how he inspired Gabriel to write his latest released song:

“Early in the process, I had a call from Skrillex, and he’s a very talented musician, and I thought that it’d be interesting to see what he wants or what he’s got in mind. So he did, he came to my little home studio, and we sat down and talked and tried to evolve bits and pieces. It was mainly this song, he was, I think, trying to encourage me to write a song about staying up all night in a nightclub and that sort of thing.”

The musician then shared what the song turned into rather than what Skrillex suggested:

“But that’s not really my life, so I made it more about family and home. What was for me, it was interesting and fun day, but it didn’t get to complete that way, interesting experience nonetheless, and I think it is good for me to be taken outside my normal comfort zone sometimes.”

Although, according to Gabriel, the final version of the song is less radio-friendly, he didn’t hesitate to try something new with his voice. He explained:

“We took it into this other direction which is probably less radio-friendly but more Gabriel. I did an unusual thing for me in that I tried doing this low voice/high voice thing, so you get this almost conversational voice at the beginning, and the second part is a higher, more emotional voice. I thought that would be both intimate and emotive to put the two side by side.”

‘This Is Home‘ is the 10th song to be released from Gabriel’s forthcoming LP, and it’s one of the songs he has been playing in his ongoing North American arena tour, which is scheduled to wrap up on October 21.

Gabriel has been releasing the songs on every full moon, and although there are now eleven songs released, there still isn’t an official release date for the album.

Blink-182 drummer Travis Barker admitted that he is still struggling with his fear of flying.

Barker was once on a plane on his way to Van Nuys, California, in 2008 with his two close friends, Adam ‘DJ AM’ Goldstein, assistant Chris Baker, and security guard Charles Still. The plane unexpectedly crashed, and only Barker and DJ AM survived, leaving the two with PTSD.

Barker took to Twitter to share his experience with flying. He wrote the following:

“I still hate flying. I love touring and playing music but I unfortunately associate traveling and flying with death. I am strong and nothing can keep me from living life though.”

Considering the crash he has been in, it can be expected the rocker is still afraid of flying. Despite the plane crash, the drummer believes he can handle everything ‘God throws at him,’ while revealing that he has been dealing with health problems for the last week. He wrote in the next tweet:

“Also last week I had Covid, an episode of trigeminal neuralgia, and a root canal. Which means I can pretty much handle anything God throws at me.”

Although it seems that Barker is still afraid of flying, two years ago, he shared a photo on his Instagram account in front of a plane with his wife, Kourtney Kardashian, stating in the description that anything is possible with her. So it can be claimed that it got easier for Barker to get on planes both with the help of his wife and his music career.
